Free Running Workshop, Amy Feneck / James Dalby
Free running or Parkour is not an extreme sport. It is the art of physical displacement, aiming to get the human body from A to B as efficiently and quickly as possible, overcoming obstacles in the surrounding environment in which you travel. This can be anything along your route or path through a space, using concrete blocks, railings, scaffold, branches, rocks, curbs as vaulting blocks and springboards.
For this Offload Workshop, join a group of regular free runners from Bristol and try-out your physical skills or non-skills in and around the Cumberland basin area near the OFFLOAD festival hub.
We shall aim to travel from rural to urban environments using and learning about how the human body can react to and play with the spaces we momentarily occupy.
The workshop will be run by artist Amy Feneck in collaboration with members of a local Parkour group. Physical skill, endurance or previous free running experience is not required in order to take part. Parkour is a non-competitive activity.
