Wildlife City Walk, Avon Wildlife Trust

As part of the Avon Wildlife Trusts, Climate Friendly Fortnight, Avon Wildlife Trust is collaborating with OFFLOAD and joining forces with other Wildlife Trusts across the South West to raise awareness of the implications of climate change for wildlife.

The Climate Fortnight, launches during OFFLOAD with the Wildlife City Walk.

This short walk around the CREATE Centre has been developed by Avon Wildlife Trust to highlight the rich diversity of wildlife in this area. CREATE stands on land excavated from spoil when the Cumberland Basin was excavated, and for many years was a bonded warehouse before becoming the vibrant environment centre it now is.

The 1.5km trail will take you past saltmarsh, the tidal river Avon, old harbour walls, scrub and hedgerow, and you’ll see a variety of wildlife throughout the seasons, from wintering wading birds to summertime’s flowers and butterflies.

The walk is led by Mary Wood who designed the trail. Mary is Avon Wildlfie Trust’s Biodiversity Advisory Officer, and is also a Trustee for Arno’s Vale. Mary is an active and enthusiastic naturalist who brings her considerable wildlife knowledge to bear in the fascinating guided walks she conducts.
